A Denver Broncos loss is a Pittsburgh Steelers gain.
The Steelers signed offensive lineman Ryan Harris to a two-year contract on Tuesday the team announced. The Denver Post suggested that the deal is reportedly worth $3.9 million dollars.
Harris was an active member of the Broncos squad last year, starting 16 games in the regular season and all three of the team’s post-season games, including Super Bowl 50.
The 31-year old Harris has started 70 games in eight NFL seasons.
Harris is a versatile player, willing to play on both sides. He started the season at right tackle for the first three games of the season. However, injuries forced him to play on the left side as a left tackle. His blocking wasn’t perfect, but he did a solid job in protecting Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler.
Now the Steelers have depth at the position, but now maybe too much depth, which likely leads to Kelvim Beachum not being re-signed.
With Harris’ signing, the future of Beachum with the Steelers remains quite uncertain. The team is also now out of the running for former Seattle Seahawk Russell Okung, who the Steelers offered a contract to over the weekend.
Beachum, while all of this is going on in Pittsburgh, has visited the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New York Jets, according to NFL Network.
The Steelers can still also pick up another offensive lineman in the 2016 NFL Draft. After the Draft, the team will commence their offseason OTAs before their annual camp in July/August.
