The Pittsburgh Steelers needed to make a roster move on Monday after starting offensive tackle Kelvin Beachum was lost for the season with a torn ACL.

As expected Beachum was placed on injured-reserve and the Steelers brought in another tackle to take his place on the roster.

Former Tennessee Titans tackle Byron Stingily was signed.

Steelers offensive line coach Mike Munchak has familiarity with Stingily, having been his head coach for a couple of seasons.

Stingily attended Louisville and was a sixth-round pick in 20111 (No. 175 overall). He started 9-of-20 games in four seasons with Tennessee. Eight of those starts came at right tackle, including making five starts last season.

Alejandro Villanueva replaced Beachum against the Cardinals on Sunday and will start in Beachum’s absence.

Beachum, a former seventh-round pick, played the first six games of the season and became a fixture at left tackle for the Steelers. He is on the final year of his current contract.

Stingily will wear No. 79 for the Steelers.

Stingily’s younger brother, Cameron, was a running back with Pittsburgh in training camp.
