The Pittsburgh Steelers will once again wear a third jersey during the 2015 season and it will be a look that fans have become accustomed to seeing the past few years.
The team announced on Wednesday that they will their 1934 throwback uniforms for the team’s Nov. 1 contest vs. the Cincinnati Bengals. It marks the fourth consecutive season that the Steelers will wear the striped uniforms.
While the bumble bee look has been called the ugliest uniform in sports by some, the look has brought the Steelers some luck.
Pittsburgh has gone 3-1 while wearing their throwbacks during the past four seasons. Coincidentally, those three wins are one more than the franchise had when first introducing the uniforms in the 30’s.
The Steelers first wore the prison looking jerseys in 2012 against both the Washington Redskins and Baltimore Ravens. In 2013, the team wore them against the Detroit Lions and last season Pittsburgh wore them against the Indianapolis Colts.
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will hope for similar results wearing the throwbacks as last season he threw six touchdown passes in a win against the Colts.
