It didn’t take very long for former Pitt swingman Durand Johnson to find himself a new home. Johnson officially transferred to St. Johns on Wednesday, following former Pitt assistant coach Barry Rohrssen to the Red Storm, where he will suit up for new St. John’s head coach Chris Mullin. The Baltimore native announced his decision to leave the Panthers on April 14. Johnson was expected to be a big piece of the Panthers offense the past couple seasons, but it never came to fruition. Both teams found things tough early on as neither team got much in their half court sets. But Pitt closed the first half on an 11-2 run to take a 36-30 lead into the locker room. Pitt head coach ... Is this Jamie Dixon’s best shooting team ever?
One thing has always been missing from Jamie Dixon's Pitt basketball teams in the past and that's been the ability to shoot the ball consistently from the perimeter. Sure there have been some snipers that have wore a Panthers uniform in the past, but never has Dixon had a team that has the potential to be as lethal as this Pitt team can be from the outside. Through six games, all wins, Pitt is shooting the three ball at a 40.7 percent clip (44-for-108). That number also includes a program ... Read More

Jamie Dixon has options to replace Trey Zeigler
Much has been made of the depth that Jamie Dixon's Pitt Panthers currently have and with the news of Trey Zeigler's suspension, that depth will be tested immediately. However the loss of Zeigler may not be felt as badly as some people may believe. Dixon has consistently been playing 10 guys and it's fair to think that number would shrink anyway once Big East Conference play begins. Zeigler, a former top 30 recruit, has been Dixon's first guard off the bench in most games, but has received ... Read More
