After Sunday’s disappointing loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the topic on all Pittsburgh Steelers’ fans minds is the insanely high amount of penalties the Steelers have been called for to begin the season, most notably the 13 flags for 125 yards on Sunday. You aren’t going to win many football games like that and head coach Mike Tomlin took the blame for his team’s undisciplined play. “After a performance like that I think it is important that we look within and look at what it is that ... Pittsburgh Steelers sloppy in loss to Buccaneers
Coming off a big win Sunday night on the road against the Carolina Panthers, many thought the Pittsburgh Steelers had momentum on their side as the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers paid a visit to Heinz Field Sunday afternoon. Instead of feasting on the winless Bucs, the Steelers showed why they have been a .500 team in back-to-back seasons, turning in an inconsistent performance on both sides of the ball in a 27-24 loss that dropped the black-and-gold to 2-2 on the season. Tampa backup ... Read More
Training camp notes from Latrobe
It was beautiful day at Latrobe yesterday as the rain (for the most part) held off, and the Steelers continued to prepare for their first pre-season game of the 2014 season. The Steelers will travel to New York to play the Giants on Saturday night. Here's some of the some observations I made watching practice yesterday. *Bumped into Carnell Lake before practice began, and Lake just happened to be my favorite player from the 90's teams. I gotta tell you, Mr. Lake looks like he could still play ... Read More
Steelers Wide Receiver Coach Leaves for Duke
The Steelers wide receiver coach, Scottie Montgomery, has left the team to become the offensive coordinator for Duke. Montgomery became the Steelers wide receiver coach in 2010 and was considered to be one of Mike Tomlin's "guys." As was Amos Jones the Steelers formed special teams coordinator who left for the same job in Arizona. The question is whether Tomlin is cleaning house with his coaches or if the Steelers front office told him to get rid of these guys. Either way the Steelers ... Read More
Steelers: Tomlin Discusses Hiring of New Offensive Line Coach
Mike Tomlin talks about results a lot and is considered results-oriented guy. So when he had a chance to hire the offensive line coach that was behind the fifth best rushing team in the NFL in 2012 he made a quick decision. “The proof is in the pudding,” said Tomlin. “When I had an opportunity to look, not only at what he says from a presentation standpoint but also at what the tape looks like, it was attractive. Obviously they were in a tough situation this past year in Kansas City from a team ... Read More

Pittsburgh Steelers Week 12 Report Card
The Pittsburgh Steelers did not fare well Sunday in Cleveland turning in an ugly overall effort in a 20-14 loss that could prove very costly in the long run. On the day, the Steelers had more penalties (nine) and turnovers (eight), than points the offense put up (seven). While it was an ugly day offensively, the Steelers' defense didn't play very bad- at least good enough to beat the Browns. With that being said, let's take a look at how the Steelers graded out in my weekly report ... Read More
Pittsburgh Steelers Recent Drafts Coming back to Haunt Them
The current question surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers is one of what exactly has happened to that once dominant Steelers' defense? You don't have to look further than the most recent NFL Draft's to find your answer. One thing the Steelers haven't done well in the Mike Tomlin-era is draft very well. Some of that has to do with drafting late and some of that can be attributed to not having many needs for the past few years, but the Tomlin-Kevin Colbert combination hasn't done as well as ...
