This evening, the Florida Panthers (32-18-6) hosted the Pittsburgh Penguins (28-19-7) at the BB&T Center. Coming off of a five-game losing streak, the Panthers came into tonight’s game hoping to end the streak that began with the Penguins earlier this month. The first period gave way to something Penguins fans have seen far too often, turnover after turnover, and a team that acts like they do not want to be on the ice. Halfway through the period, Panthers center Nick Bjugstad scored the ... Read More
Durand Johnson to transfer from Pitt basketball program
After a down year, the Pitt Panthers men's basketball team was hopeful that it would get soon-to-be senior guard Durand Johnson back from a season-long suspension. Those hopes won't come to fruition, as it was announced on Tuesday that Johnson will transfer from the Pitt basketball program. #Pitt news - Durand Johnson is no longer a part of the program. — Paul Zeise (@PaulZeise) April 14, 2015 It wasn't announced where he will transfer to at the time of print. Can DeAngelo Williams contribute at running back for Steelers?
When NFL free agency began earlier this week, one of the positions with a number of intriguing options was running back. Penguins come back but fall in shootout to Panthers
The Penguins made a furious comeback to force overtime and earn a point, but the Florida Panthers scored the lone goal in the shootout to beat the Penguins 4-3. Panthers goaltender Roberto Luongo stopped all seven Penguins shooters. Things were looking bleak for the Penguins as they trailed 3-1 with just five minutes remaining in the third period. Nick ... The Yinzer of the Week: Devin Street
It's been a season of pairs for the Pitt Panthers football team. After back-to-back losses to open the season, the Panthers looked like they could have righted the ship with their upset over Virginia Tech and a win against Gardner Webb. Then came the first loss against Syracuse in eight years, followed by last week's homecoming game against Louisville where Pitt dropped their record to a dismal 2-4 in Head Coach Paul Chryst's first season in Oakland. Early on, it seemed as if it was going to ... Read More
Deem’s preview of the weekend’s top games
Carolina at Atlanta looks like a good match up on paper, but if Carolina comes out and plays the way they did against the Giants last week, this will be over very quickly. The Falcons are coming off a dominant win over San Diego in which the offense and defense played great. Matt Ryan is the highest rated quarterback in the NFL after three weeks and I look for him to continue that trend this week against the Panthers secondary. Cam Newton needs to bounce back and prove to his doubters he can win ... Read More
