Lombardozzi has received an invite to the Pirates Major League spring training camp. Lombardozzi appeared in just 20 games for the Orioles last year, ... Read More

What we learned from the MLB trade deadline
For baseball fans and the journalists who cover the game, the trade deadline is one of the biggest days of the season. It's a time to see what might happen to either make a team better for a playoff run, or how a team might build for the future. This was my first deadline working as a sports writer; coffee brewed, computer(s) on, Twitter feed constantly being refreshed — definitely a different feeling from some of the other deadlines I can remember from the past. Throughout you are hearing ... Read More
Pirates come back to beat Reds in extra innings
PITTSBURGH - Jeanmar Gomez, coming off one of the best starts of his career, was knocked around early by the Reds and exited the game after just one inning pitched. He allowed four earned runs in the top of the first and was pulled from the game due to an injury. The bullpen, yet again, look phenomenal. After a tough first inning by Gomez, only four hits were allowed in eight innings by The Shark Tank. Vin Mazarro relieved Gomez and pitched the second, third, and fourth innings. He only ... One country that isn't usually associated with baseball is Germany. Their national sport is football and its top league is known as Bundesliga. Germany also has a baseball ... Read More
The Pittsburgh Kid is Just Another Second Baseman
About 20 minutes before each game at PNC Park, the scoreboard rolls the player introductions. During the Saturday Night Live themed entrances, it's no surprise that Andrew McCutchen receives the biggest pop from the fans. It's only fitting that the first player since Barry Bonds, who was showered with "MVP, MVP" chants last year, would be the fan favorite. There is, however, one player that comes close in rivaling McCutchen for the title of most popular Pirate. No, it isn't A.J. Burnett, ... Read More
Snedden’s Take: The Unique Evolution of Pittsburgh the Sports City: Past, Present and the Possible Future
When people think of the city of Pittsburgh here in 2013, very rarely does the industrial past of the region influence the opinion of people from around the Country.
