The Pitt Panthers announced their team captains for the 2015 football season on Friday. Leading the first-year head coach Pat Narduzzi’s squad will be four seniors: tight end J.P. Holtz (Shaler), defensive back Lafayette Pitts (Woodland Hills), defensive lineman Darryl Render and offensive lineman Artie Rowell. Pitt Panthers running back Rachid Ibrahim will be lost of the season to an Achilles tendon injury, according to head coach Pat Narduzzi. The junior running back played in all 13 games in 2014 as a backup to James Connor, gaining 263 yards on 33 carries, for a stellar 8.0 yards per carry average. He also added 11 catches for 73 yards. Former Pitt guard Josh Newkirk, who is at home rehabbing from his microfracture knee surgery, has decided on a new home for the 2016-17 season: the Indiana Hoosiers. Junior guard Josh Newkirk, who had microfracture surgery on his left knee on May 6, will not rejoin the Pitt Panthers this fall as expected. Pitt wide receiver Tyler Boyd will receive one year of probation as a result of his arrest for driving under the influence. On Friday, Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas Judge Robert C.
