The Pitt Panthers knew its task was monumental in order to get back into the NCAA Tournament conversation, but the journey ended before it could start. The 81-70 loss to NC State Wednesday night in the second round of the ACC Tournament. Now despite what many people call Jamie Dixon's best coaching job, the Panthers will be NIT bound. NC State [20-12] dominated the first half, and Anthony 'Cat' Barber in particular created separation from the Panthers [19-14]. Barber scored 21 points in ... Read More

Pitt the bed: There’s silver lining in bowl collapse
With the Pitt Panthers holding a commanding 31-6 fourth-quarter lead in the Armed Forces Bowl against the Houston Cougars, incoming head coach Pat Narduzzi certainly had to be pleased with what he saw from the team he was set to take over. After all, the Panthers had charged out to that seemingly insurmountable lead by dominating the Cougars for three quarters, and looked assured of a win that would not only give the Panthers their second consecutive bowl win, but positive momentum to start ... Pitt Notebook: Derrick Randall Suspended following DUI Arrest

Pitt Panthers Notebook: Tray Woodall to Play in Istanbul
The 2013 NBA Draft and NBA Summer League came and went without hearing the name Tray Woodall. Despite working out for a couple NBA franchises, it doesn't look as if there is a fit in the NBA at this time for the former Pitt point guard. With that being said, that doesn't mean Woodall won't be playing professionally next season as he has signed a deal to play with a team in Istanbul. That's good to hear as Woodall got much better during his time in a Panthers uniform and emerged as a ... Read More

With that being said, let's not waste any time and look at Pitt wide receiver Devin Street, who could be taking on a new leadership role with the team this season. One problem with having Tino ... Pitt gives AD Pederson 5-year extension
In an expected move, but one that won't necessarily make all Pitt Panthers fans happy, the program made it official Tuesday afternoon- athletic director Steve Pederson isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Pederson received a five-year contract extension that will keep him in his present position through the 2017-2018 academic year, Chancellor Mark Nordenberg said Tuesday. He's not the most popular guy on campus, but Pederson has done a lot in his time at Pitt, most recently helping the Panthers ... Read More
Could Pitt Lose Boyd to WVU?
A few weeks ago, the Pitt Panthers landed their most talked about recruit of the off-season in Tyler Boyd. The Clariton High School receiver has been in the recruiting spotlight as of late. Boyd recently made an official visit right down the road to West Virginia University. Before this past season, WVU and Pitt were bitter rivalries. When WVU took off to the Big 12, it left the on-field rivalry seemingly in the dust. But the rivalry continues off the field in recruiting. Earlier this season, ... Read More
