Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell has a history of injuries, so it makes sense he’d want to think about his future and consider a career as, uh, a rapper? Under the name Juice, the 24-year-old Bell recently dropped his single, “Focus,” which condemns his haters who think — if you didn’t guess it by the title — he isn’t “focused” enough on rehabbing from his injury (a torn ACL) or his career. He also goes after people who think he’s still smoking marijuana after a suspension at the ... Read More
Antonio Brown nominated for ESPY award for best NFL player
Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown was recently nominated for the 2016 ESPY Award for Best NFL Player — and he’s a pretty deserving recipient. In 2015, Brown was tied for the league-lead in receptions (136) and was second in receiving yards (1,834) — and he did all that without quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for all or part of five games of the season. And, through six seasons, the star wideout has more catches (526) than any other NFL wide receiver in that same period. He’s also only ... Read More
Harrison demands Goodell’s presence at PED meeting
On the field, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison is known for taking no prisoners. Apparently, off the field, he’s the same way. The NFL sent letters to three active NFL players linked to PEDs in an Al-Jazeera America documentary, and, as one of the players named, Harrison fired back. In an Instagram post, Harrison wrote that he’d speak to the NFL about the PED allegations — on a couple of conditions. @NFL I look forward to speaking with you. Goodnight A photo posted by ... Steelers announce release of kicker Shaun Suisham
The Pittsburgh Steelers announced they have released kicker Shaun Suisham after he failed to pass a physical. The 34-year-old veteran kicker tore his ACL in last year's Hall of Fame Game and recently said he wasn’t sure whether he’d be ready in time for the start of training camp. He hadn’t attempted a kick in the 10 months since his injury. In a statement, Suisham said: “Thank you Pittsburgh and all of Steelers Nation! Unfortunately, the injury I sustained in the Pro Hall of Fame ... Read More
In HBO profile, Bruce Arians remains “pissed” about parting with Steelers
After the 2011 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers and offensive coordinator Bruce Arians parted ways. The Steelers tried to pass it off as Arians’ retirement, but in a recent profile on HBO’s Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel, Arians confirmed what most already knew: He was fired. And he was “pissed” about it. According to Arians, he was told by head coach Mike Tomlin that a new contract was coming. Then, Arians told journalist Andrea Kremer, a different kind of call came. “(Tomlin) said, ‘I ... Read More
Report: Michael Vick won’t be on Steelers’ roster for 2016 season
The Pittsburgh Steelers aren't bringing back veteran quarterback Michael Vick for the 2016 season. According to Bob Labriola of steelers.com, Ben Roethlisberger, Bruce Gradkowski, Landry Jones and Dustin Vaughan will be the team's quarterbacks going into training camp. The move doesn’t come as much of a shock. On May 2, the Steelers re-signed veteran quarterback Gradkowski, who will serve as Roethlisberger's backup, to a one-year extension. With two veteran quarterbacks already ... Read More
Steelers sign former Pittsburgh tight end David Johnson to 90-man roster
The Pittsburgh Steelers are bringing back a familiar face: David Johnson. The team announced the signing of the former Pittsburgh tight end on Tuesday afternoon. Johnson was selected by the Steelers in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He stayed with Pittsburgh until the end of the 2013-14 season, when he was then picked up by the San Diego Chargers. (He stayed with the Chargers for two seasons.) In his career, Johnson has 24 receptions for 224 yards. He has one touchdown, which ... Read More
The best and worst of the Steelers draft
When it comes to the NFL draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers have long been known for avoiding the temptation to draft for need. Looking at the results of this year's draft, it's easy to get a sense the Steelers bucked that trend and focused on some of the team's biggest weaknesses this past weekend in Chicago. After drafting defense in the first three rounds and five of the seven picks overall, it's clear that Director of Player Personnel Kevin Colbert understood that there were plenty of needs ... Steelers decline fifth-year option on linebacker Jarvis Jones
The Pittsburgh Steelers have declined to pick up the fifth-year option on outside linebacker Jarvis Jones' contract, per multiple reports. Jones will be an unrestricted free agent after the 2016 season. Today was the last day for NFL teams to make a decision on fifth-year contracts for players drafted in the first round in 2013. Had the Steelers picked up the option, they would have owed Jones nearly $8.4 million — as long as he was on the roster come the start of the league year (March ... Read More
Steelers draft grades for rounds 2 and 3
Round One: Sean Davis, S, Maryland The Pittsburgh Steelers sure aren’t leaving their draft plan up for any interpretation, making it very clear they’re targeting the holes in their secondary. After taking a cornerback in the first round, with the second pick the Steelers selected Sean Davis, safety out of Maryland. Davis played corner last year at Maryland, but the physical specimen (6 foot 1, 201 pounds) should make a devastating safety for the Steelers. He struggled in man-coverage, so ... Read More
