This is the fourth in a series of looking the Pittsburgh Steelers and how they will fare from a fantasy football perspective in 2015. I now move to the wide receiver position and perhaps the best wide receiver in the game in Antonio Brown. Brown has had a two-year run that should make him the top receiver going off the board. Two years ago he finished with 110 receptions, 1,503 total yards and nine touchdowns. Last season he even improved on those numbers by adding an additional 19 ... Read More
Steelers kicker Suisham out with ‘potentially significant’ injury
In the NFL preseason, the results of the games are often less important than the post-game injury report. That could be the case for the Steelers, who lost 14-3 to the Minnesota Vikings in the Hall of Fame Game on Sunday night, and also lost kicker Shaun Suisham to an injury. Suisham was injured making a tackle in on the opening kickoff of the third quarter. The Steelers announced that he had suffered a left knee injury and was questionable to return. He did not kick again in the game. ... Read More
Steelers struggle on offense in Hall of Fame Game loss
Football season is now officially underway as the Pittsburgh Steelers faced the Minnesota Vikings in Sunday night's preseason-opneing Hall of Fame Game. Although there were flashes of talent, the Steelers failed to score a touchdown and would go on to lose 14-3. Ben Roethlisberger was scratched from the game, giving third-year pro Landry Jones the start. Jones has been inactive every career regular-season game as he has yet to advance up the depth chart. The Oklahoma standout played well in an ... Read More
Several Steelers inactive for preseason opener
Several prominent Steelers players will be held out of tonight’s game as the Black and Gold make their 2015 debut against the Minnesota Vikings in the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. On offense, the Steelers will play without quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and wide receivers Martavis Bryant, Darius Heyward-Bey and Markus Wheaton. Third-year backup Landry Jones is expected to start at quarterback. Wide reciver Antonio Brown, center Maurkice Pouncey and running back Le’Veon Bell, who were ... Read More
Four things to focus on in Steelers preseason opener
Amid the celebration of the induction of Jerome Bettis in the Pro Football Hall of Fame this weekend in Canton, the Pittsburgh Steelers will open their preseason on Sunday night against the Minnesota Vikings with kickoff slated for 8 p.m. Though the recurrent theme of putting in quality work without players getting injured during the preseason rarely changes, it does not mean there won't be plenty of things to keep an eye on Sunday night. Add the laundry list of injuries and players ... Read More
2015 Fantasy Football Outlook: DeAngelo Williams
This is the third part in a series looking at the fantasy value of current Pittsburgh Steelers. While earlier I looked at guys who can have an impact for your team week in and week out like Ben Roethlisberger and Le’Veon Bell, today I look at a trickier situation in the form of running back DeAngelo Williams. When Williams signed with the Steelers, it didn’t do much for his already plummeting fantasy value, but throw in Bell’s suspension and a guy like Williams has seen his value rise a ... Read More
‘Significant’ injury to Robert Golden taxes safety depth further
The Pittsburgh Steelers are becoming desperately thin at the safety position. With starters Mike Mitchell and Shamarko Thomas, along with reserve Ross Ventrone already out with various injuries, the Steelers were already tapping deep into the ranks of their depth chart. Now with key reserve and special teams standout Robert Golden out with what head coach Mike Tomlin deemed "significant," the Steelers may be looking for additional help at the position. Golden, a top contributor on ... Read More
2015 Fantasy Football Outlook: Le’Veon Bell
Yesterday I started my 2015 Pittsburgh Steelers Fantasy Football preview by looking at Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Today I shift the focus to the backfield and look at running back Le’Veon Bell. Bell is an easy guy to analyze, especially after a 2014 season in which he was the Fantasy Football MVP. I for one rode Bell to more than one title a season ago. But there are some complications entering the 2015 campaign as Bell won’t be immediately available, serving a two-game ... Read More
Senquez Golson’s season in jeopardy
Coming into the season, the Pittsburgh Steelers were desperate for a playmaker in their struggling secondary. They thought they had that guy with 2015 second-round draft pick Senquez Golson. Now it looks as if they may have to wait a lot while longer to find out if Golson is going to be the playmaker that they think he is. Golson has been on the PUP list with a shoulder injury since the beginning of training camp and now, according to the Post Gazette's Ed Bouchette, Golson's season ... Read More
Adding Brandon Boykin fills a crucial need for Steelers
You simply can't have enough good cornerbacks in today's NFL. Seems simple enough, but considering how passing offenses have dominated the league in recent years, it seems to be more the case every season. After all, in four of last six seasons alone, at least 10 starting QB's have surpassed 4,000 passing yards. It does not seem like that long ago surpassing the 4,000-yard plateau was a rarity achieved by the likes of Dan Marino, Joe Montana and John Elway. Today we are seeing players ... Read More
