It was announced that Robert Morris' women's basketball team will be going dancing this March when the No. 16 seeded Robert Morris Colonials face the No. 1 seed and undefeated University of Connecticut Huskies on March 19. Over the last few years Robert Morris men’s basketball has been known to struggle in the early stages of their season. But, this year seems too concerning to just to brush off as another slow start. Basketball is right around the corner for the Robert Morris Colonials and a lot is expected from Andrew Toole’s team during the 2015-16 season. This afternoon the Robert Morris Colonials hosted the Bryant Bulldogs in what was sure to be a sensational NEC tournament semifinal. Over the course of the regular season the Colonials and Bulldogs have seen each other twice, each game decided by six points or less but today would conclude differently. RMU’s Marcquise Reed named 2015 NEC Rookie of the Year
A big reason for the success of the Robert Morris men’s basketball team this season has been the play of freshman guard Marcquise Reed. Tuesday Reed was honored, as well as a couple of his teammates, with some NEC hardware. Reed was named the 2015 Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year, become the fourth RMU student athlete in history to capture the award. It looks like the tough non-conference schedule that Robert Morris played before their NEC Conference season began is paying dividends in a big way. Andy Toole’s team was tested in a major way early on in the season, playing at the likes of North Carolina, Georgetown and Clemson.
