The Pens played the Boston Bruins Tuesday night.
After their last game, I was ready! As the game started and the first period ended, my hopes sunk. I was upset, so I did what came natural; I went out to my kitchen and baked four dozen cookies. Yup, I made four dozen cookies at 9 p.m. on a Tuesday.
That was enough to take up the scoreless second period. I did what any woman would do. I grabbed my bottle of wine and a handful of cookies ready to throw a pity party. The third period ticked away. I was out of cookies and my wine was running low. The last five minutes looked dismal for the Penguins and my wine glass.
But… then… something amazing happened. Chris Kunitz scored! I just thought, “Oh thank God! It won’t be a shut out!!!” Then came Brandon Sutter. The man who the Pens got for Jordan Staal scored not once, but TWICE. He tied it up and scored the winning goal! I couldn’t believe what I was witnessing. I couldn’t believe that in the last five minutes of the hockey game not only did the Pens tie up the game, they WON!
I am ashamed to say that I doubted the Penguins. I doubted their ability to beat the Bruins. I don’t know why I did. After eight years of being a Penguins fan, you would think I’d learn not to be a doubter. If this were a full season, I’d be completely stocked about the playoffs.
I still don’t think anyone should get the cup. It’s still a half season. Of course considering the man and I usually always get tickets to the playoffs, I’m just glad there is a season. I’m ecstatic that the Pens are doing so awesome. I cannot wait for playoffs. I can’t wait to be sitting in the CONSOL with my beer screaming at everything. And nachos. Don’t forget the nachos.
So in closing I must say I HAVE SUTTER FEVER!
