The Housewife has been absent. I know. Fortunately, I have a lot of good things happening in my personal life that has taken up 99% of my time in the past month.
Onto hockey!
The playoffs start on Tuesday, for the Pens it starts on Wednesday where they will be taking on the Islanders. I stand by what I said at the beginning of the half season that I don’t think there should be playoffs, but who listens to the Housewife? Not the NHL.
Since it’s going to happen regardless of what I think all I have to say is: OH MY GOD I’M SO EXCITED!
Have you seen the way they’ve been playing? Have you seen the acquisitions? Brenden Morrow! Jarome Iginla! Jussi Jokenin! I even had Sutter fever a few weeks ago. This team is so stacked, I can’t pick just one player to obsess over.
Saturday night’s game was a perfect way to wrap up our regular season. I almost lost hope in that game, before reminding myself of all the last minute 3rd period wins that we’ve had this season. I grabbed hold of my Raspberry Hoegaarden and watched. (That’s right; I was actually OUT at a real bar for the game with the Man last night. It was thrilling!) The boys did not let me down. Tied at three going in a five goal period put an end to one of the Penguin’s best seasons ever. Even if it was only a 48-game season.
James Neal made an explosive come back after missing 8-9 games with an amazing hat trick. It is the first that I’ve seen in such a long time that I was literally jumping up and down, nearly spilling my beer, and shouting with the rest of the crowd.
We all went home happy Saturday night.
I have a warm and fuzzy feeling about the first round. The guys look amazing. Crosby has been cleared to practice. Malkin is back. I haven’t seen the Penguins look this good in years. My jersey is dusted off and waiting for Wednesday, I will get my hockey on!
