Praise the hockey Gods! Now we don’t have to sit around in despair for the next seven months waiting for sports to start up. We get a few months of hockey. Say it with me, folks. HOCKEY! HOCKEY! I was so excited when I read that I actually squealed. I’m not a typical girl – I don’t squeal.
In a city that loves hockey, I’m a big hockey fan. A huge hockey fan. I will take a hockey game over football and especially baseball any day. This lockout has gone on too long. 116 days actually. 116 freaking days. I will still miss my chance to go to the Consol this year. I’ll miss seeing someone get plastered to the Plexi glass and spitting up blood. I have to miss the chants of Pens players, but at least I will get to watch games.
I still think it will be complete bull shit if they have a playoff and someone gets Lord Stanley. What kind of playoff would it be? Nobody has played an entire season! Nobody would really deserve it. I would hope nobody would expect to get the cup for some half-assed season. As much as I do love hockey, after missing 116 days worth of games, uh yeah, nobody deserves to take home anything in my honest opinion.
So, now that the lockout is over, it is time for our boys to come home! All the other leagues…sorry, but the Pens require their players. Yinzers everywhere want their hockey! WE WANT HOCKEY!
