Considering there was not a tremendous amount of actual sports activity this week, the Pittsburgh sports scene has been busy. Mainly off the field/ice. Steelers’ running back Chris Rainey was released hours after being arrested for attacking his girlfriend in Florida. Might you ask, why did this dipshit attack his girlfriend? His answer, she took his phone. Yes folks, the girl took his phone. At least the Rooney’s managed to cut ties with him, even though I’m sure it wasn’t too painful to say good-bye to a 4th stringer. Honestly, how many of you have even heard of the dude?
On to happier news; the Penguins are finally playing! Their first game of the season is against the Philadelphia Criers Flyers. I’m not a fan of the goon squad – I’m not sure any Pens fan is. Next to the Crapitols Capitols, they’re my least favorite. I was really disappointed when our beloved Max Talbot left for them. He was awesome at getting a crowd riled up, and boy could he fight.
My anxious heart has been leaping for joy at each article I see written about all the boys making their way back home from across the ocean.
There is one big difference this year that tugs the heart strings of all Pens fans of the womanly kind, Jordan Staal is no longer with us. Nope, he signed a 10 year contract with the Carolina Hurricanes to play with his brothers. While it was exceptionally sad to see the hunky Staal leave, I can understand. He was never shy to admit that it was a dream of his to play on the same team as his brothers, now he can live that dream. Good luck, Staalsy… the hearts of us Pittsburgh women will forever be with you.
Thinking back on how the 2011-2012 season ended. It wasn’t pretty. At all. I still remember that playoff series ending with a 4-2 loss to the Flyers. All I can is UGH! Could this game somewhat redeem the pathetic playoffs from last year? Okay, it can’t redeem the playoffs, but it sure as hell would be awesome to see some Flyer’s get slammed to the ice.
