PITTSBURGH – The Passion wrap up their regular season with a win against the Detroit Dark Angels, for the defense’s fourth shut-out of the season 31-0; the Passion finish with a 6-2 record in the Women’s Football Alliance.
Pittsburgh Passion Defensive Back, Sharon Vasquez, lead the defense with five tackles and an interception in the first quarter, returning the ball for a 51-yd touchdown. This ties the Passion record with three career interceptions returned for touchdowns. Vazquez will represent the USA Women’s Football Team in a few weeks as a Defensive Back in Finland for the Second Annual Women’s Football World Championships this June.
The Passion defense had two crucial goal-line stances against Detroit, let by Amy Betterton with five tackles, Tia Montgomery and Alex McAtee with four tackles each. Kim Zubovic and Jessica Nelko both had one sack each on Detroit.
The Passion offense was lead by Quarterback, Lisa Horton with 188 passing yards, one rushing touchdown and one touchdown pass. Passion Wide Receiver, Angela Baker had one touchdown in the second quarter for 19 yards. Fullback, Candice Snyder also had a touchdown tying the Passion rookie record for most touchdowns in a season. Passion Wide Receiver, Tammy Spencer had an exciting 36-yd reception at the end of the first half.
Passion Kicker, Amy Fallon kicked her 100th Career extra point during the second quarter of the game. Fallon was 4 for 4 on extra points and 1 for 1 on her field goal against the Dark Angels.
