It’s been a season of pairs for the Pitt Panthers football team. After back-to-back losses to open the season, the Panthers looked like they could have righted the ship with their upset over Virginia Tech and a win against Gardner Webb. Then came the first loss against Syracuse in eight years, followed by last week’s homecoming game against Louisville where Pitt dropped their record to a dismal 2-4 in Head Coach Paul Chryst’s first season in Oakland.
Early on, it seemed as if it was going to be Tino Sunseri and the offense that would struggle, but lately, it’s been the defense. One of the standout players for Pitt in a loss to Louisville was wide receiver Devin Street. Even in a losing effort, Street did enough to earn our Yinzer of the Week Award.
Street hauled in 11 catches for 111 yards and a touchdown in the 45-35 loss. Street leads Pitt with 39 receptions for 514 yards and three touchdowns on the season. Street has at least four catches in each game this year after showing flashes of his talent last year. Bulking up from 185 to 203, it looks like Street has developed a repertoire with Sunseri that will allow him to put that talent to full use.
