Duquesne (6-8, 1-2) fell Saturday afternoon at the A.J. Palumbo Center to Rhode Island (11-3, 3-0) 61-60 in a Rams win that was cinched by two free throws with eight seconds remaining. Rhode Island’s sophomore guard E.C. Matthews led his team with 18 points, scoring 13 of his points in the second half. Coming off a very disappointing start to the ACC season on Saturday, the Pitt Panthers had to come out of Boston College with a win at all cost. Conditioning lifts Darius Lewis to success for Dukes
Duquesne’s sophomore center Darius Lewis is not only the tallest player on the roster at 6-11, 255 pounds; he also has one of the biggest success stories around. The Lexington, Kentucky native signed with the Dukes in April 2013 to become the fifth member of the 2013-14 recruiting class.
