All Seton Hill’s women’s basketball team had to do was win Wednesday night and they were in the playoffs. They did not need any help nor worry about any other game. They just needed to simply win. Tough losses have become an unfortunate trend for Pitt’s men’s basketball team this season. Duquesne (15-13, 5-10) fell to St. Bonaventure (19-7, 11-4) 80-76 tonight at the Reilly Center, dropping its sixth-straight game. Duquesne freshman Kadri-Ann Lass has had a big season for the 24-3 Dukes. So big that she likely has all but sewn up Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Year honors when the season ending awards are announced. Kameron Taylor has a knack for hitting clutch shots in Edinboro’s McComb Fieldhouse. Two seasons ago at Edinboro, Taylor hit a jumper from the free-throw line at the buzzer to give the Griffins a 95-93 over the Fighting Scots. On Saturday afternoon, history repeated itself. Duquesne (15-12, 5-9) dropped a 77-74 decision to Rhode Island (15-2, 7-7) yesterday in a game that came down to the foul line. Despite finishing with four more field goals than the Rams, the Dukes made 10 free throws to the Rams’ 21. Jamel Artis lifts Pitt to win over Syracuse
Often this season it has seemed that the Pitt Panthers go as Jamel Artis goes. On Saturday at Syracuse Artis was very good and so were the Panthers. Artis finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds as the Panthers defeated the Orange 66-52 Saturday afternoon at the Carrier Dome, keeping their NCAA Tournament hopes alive.
