The Robert Morris Colonials will be looking to make it two wins in a row this week when they take on the Saint Francis Red Flash in the first of seven-consecutive Northeast Conference matchups to close the regular season. RMU is coming off their first win of the season, a thrilling, 31-28, victory over Lafayette last Saturday. The Leopards came into the game 3-0 and receiving votes nationally, but Greg Langer's 33-yard field goal with 19 seconds left was enough for the RMU upset. Saint ... Read More
Duquesne Trio of Receivers Stepping Up to Become Weapons
Entering the 2012 season, the biggest question mark of the Duquesne offense was who would step up and catch the football this season. The Dukes lost over 90 percent of their receiving yards from a season ago, most notably Isaac Spragg and Connor Dixon, who combined for 99 receptions, 1,454 yards and 21 touchdowns a season ago. While the current Duquesne receivers may not put up those types of numbers, they are getting production from the likes of Gianni Carter, Noel Oduho and Sean Brady, ... Read More
The Yinzer of the Week – Larry McCoy
For this edition of The Yinzer of the Week, the award goes to Duquesne University senior running back Larry McCoy. Week 6 Big East Power Rankings
The Pitt Panthers are coming off a week off, but other teams were busy during Week 5 of the college football season. Cincinnati won the biggest game of the week by defeating Virginia Tech, but no one else in the conference had a particularly good showing. How does all of that effect my latest power rankings? For one, we have a shakeup at the top and some movement throughout. Let's take a look at how the Big East teams stand as they head into Week 6. 1. Rutgers (4-0, 1-0) Last Week's ... Read More
Duquesne Rallies to win 4th Straight
The Duquesne Dukes have made it a habit as of late getting out of the gates slow and coming on strong in the fourth quarter. It’s not the ideal recipe for head coach Jerry Schmitt’s team, but it’s been working as the Dukes used another big fourth quarter performance to come from behind and defeat Saint Francis 24-21 in NEC Conference play. “It’s certainly not the way we want to keep playing,” said Schmitt. “I don’t want to be in that situation all of the time. I’m glad we play well in the ... Read More
Robert Morris in search of first win vs.Lafayette
It's been a rough start to the 2012 season for the Robert Morris Colonials, dropping their first three games by a combined score of 97-24; certainly not the start to the season that Colonials' head coach Joe Walton was hoping for. Following a bye week, RMU gets back in action Saturday, but things won't get any easier as they host unbeaten Lafayette (3-0). To come away with a win, the Colonials offense must get going. That's a possibility after they got back quarterback Jeff Sinclair last ... Read More
Duquesne in Search of 4th Straight Win vs. Saint Francis
After a season opening loss to Old Dominion, Jerry Schmitt's Duquesne Dukes have rebounded nicely by putting a three-game win streak over the likes of Dayton, Valparaiso and Bryant University. Duquesne will try it make it four in a row when they return home Saturday to host Saint Francis for Homecoming at Rooney Field. In addition to looking to extend their three game win streak, the Dukes will be looking to extend a six-game conference win streak that dates back to last season. After last ... Read More
Duquesne’s Dorian Bell named NEC Defensive Player of the Week
The Duquesne Dukes defense finished strong towards the end of the 2011 season and despite only bringing back four starters from that unit, have put together three consecutive solid performances to help lead Duquesne on a three-game win streak. A big reason for that has been the play of junior linebacker Dorian Bell, who is off to a very good start to the 2012 season. Bell had perhaps his best game of his career in Saturday's Northeast Conference victory over Bryant University when he ... Read More
Tino Sunseri Putting it Together as Pitt QB
Through four weeks of the 2012 college football season, things have been a roller coaster ride for the Pitt Panthers. However while there have been many inconsistencies on both sides of the ball for Paul Chryst's team, the one constant has been the play of quarterback Tino Sunseri, which is not only quite surprising for Panthers' fans, but also quite nice to see. Other than a couple rough series' against Cincinnati, Sunseri hasn't done anything to hold the Panthers back. He's not making ... Read More
Pitt rolls over Gardner-Webb for 2nd straight win

After starting the season 0-2, being outscored 65-27, the Panthers have bounced back by winning two straight games, outscoring Virginia Tech and Gardner-Webb by a combined 90-27, putting up a combined 1,163 yards of total offense.
