Pittsburgh—Duquesne ended 2012 in disappointing fashion with two straight double-digit road losses to UL-Lafayette and Penn State. It all came after a convincing 71-66 win over a talented Western Michigan team that is picked to finish high in the MAC. This has more or less been the story of the season thus far for the Dukes—some fantastic ups, and some tough downs. Coach Ferry did say in the beginning of the season that every step forward may be followed by two steps backward. So far that is ... Read More

Robert Morris upset Miami of Ohio in Pittsburgh for the third straight time, Saturday night. This time it was for the first Three Rivers Classic Championship. Late Run Falls Short, Duquesne Drops 2nd Straight Game
University Park, PA—Coach Ferry was expecting all coaches and players back on campus by Wednesday so the team could get at least two days of solid practice in before the Penn State game Saturday night. But you can’t control Mother Nature. Due to the massive amounts of snow the East Coast received in the days after Christmas, some players and staff weren’t able to get back to campus until late Thursday. It was really tough to say though, whether Duquesne’s 84-74 loss to Penn State had a lot to do ... Read More
Penn State beats Ohio State in consolation round of Three Rivers Classic
Penn State coach Guy Gadowski couldn't hold back his excitement after watching his squad defeat Ohio State in the consolation game of the Three Rivers Classic. Gadowski's Nittany Lions rebounded from a 6-0 loss to beat the Buckeyes in front of a crowd that heavily favored Penn State. Ohio State struck first, less than four minutes into the opening period. Ryan Dzingel's wrister beat goaltender ... Read More
Jay Williams stone walls Buckeyes; will face RMU in championship
Freshman Jay Campbell made 29 saves, Curtis McKenzie scored his sixth goal of the season, and No. 5 Miami University held on to defeat Ohio State 1-0 to advance to the championship game of the Three Rivers Classic. Williams was spectacular early for the 12-3-4 Redhawks and he had to be. Ohio State dominated play in the first period and controlled much of the second period. Yet, Williams was there, making all 29 saves for his second shutout of the season. In his last eight starts, the ... Read More

Cody Wydo had two goals and Eric Levine made 48 saves for a Robert Morris team that got out to a fast start. Andrew Blazek took advantage of a Penn State turnover and buried the Colonials' first shot of the ... Read More
Duquesne Needs Big Men to Step Up
Pittsburgh—“It’s time” is all Coach Ferry needed to say to Andre Marhold to get him going December 8th against New Orleans. Marhold scored 14 points in that game, his first double-figure performance of the season—and his only one to date. The 6-6 senior forward has been decent on the glass, pulling down at least four rebounds in all but three games. Decent, however, isn’t what the team needs though. They need reliable. Now, Andre really isn’t the biggest stats guy. He said so himself after ... Read More
