As the NFL Playoffs hit their stride, Steelers fans are once again sitting at home watching on their couches for the second straight January. After starting their season with a record of 0-4 and then 2-6, the 2013 Steelers finished strong. They won six of their final eight games to level out at 8-8, and were one missed Ryan Succop field goal away from grabbing the No. 8 seed in the AFC Playoffs, a spot that eventually went to the equally-mediocre San Diego Chargers. During their 6-2 second half, ... Read More
Steelers season-ending Report Card
The 2013 season was a roller coaster ride for the Pittsburgh Steelers to say the least. An 0-4 start to the season dug Mike Tomlin's team a huge hole and after a blowout loss to the New England patriots left the Steelers at 2-6, they were all but left for dead. However a 6-2 finish to the season restored some pride in this team as they came very close to returning to the postseason. But at the end of the day, this is a team that has finished 8-8 for the second consecutive season, missing the ... Read More
Steelers Week 17 Report Card
The Pittsburgh Steelers needed a lot to happen Sunday for them to find a way to back into the playoffs. That didn't happen, but at least they accomplished the first part of the equation by taking care of the Cleveland Browns with a dominating 20-7 victory. Ultimately the Steelers were nothing more than an 8-8 team again and .500 teams don't deserve to make the playoffs, even in a weak AFC. But their 6-2 finish to the season should give this Steelers team something positive to head into next ... Read More

Chargers Eliminate Steelers From Playoffs
After completing a comeback victory in overtime against the Kansas City Chiefs, the San Diego Chargers (9-7) will be the sixth and final AFC playoff team, thus eliminating the Pittsburgh Steelers (8-8). Against mostly reserves playing for the Chiefs, who entered the game locked into the five seed in the AFC playoff picture, San Diego needed all four quarters and an overtime field goal to eventually defeat their AFC West rivals. Pittsburgh needed San Diego to lose to complete an improbable ... Read More
Playoff Hopes Still Alive as Steelers Dismiss Browns
Needing a victory and losses by three other AFC playoff hopefuls, the Pittsburgh Steelers (8-8) took care of business at Heinz Field on Sunday by defeating the Cleveland Browns (4-12) in the rain, by a 20-7 final. Pittsburgh also needed losses by the Miami Dolphins, who lost to the New York Jets, and the Baltimore Ravens, who trailed Cincinnati when the Steelers-Browns game ended. The last piece for an improbable and, dare I say, miraculous playoff berth, would be for San Diego to lose to a ... Read More
Steeler of the Week: Le’Veon Bell
Week to week, the Pittsburgh Steelers keep their playoff hopes alive. Last week was no different as the Steelers traded in the snow of Pittsburgh for the snow of Green Bay, picking up a 38-31 win in the process. A big part of that win came on the wings of rookie running back, Le'Veon Bell. Bell, a 2nd round pick out of Michigan State, put together his best game of his short NFL career in the win. Previous to the game, his best statistical game came against Baltimore when he ran for 93 ... Read More
Brown and Roethlisberger both deserving of team MVP
Plural, not singular. The sixth round pick out of Central Michigan, Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Antonio Brown will complete his fourth NFL season on Sunday in style. In four NFL seasons, he has been voted by his peers as the franchise’s most valuable player twice. The Steelers announced Thursday that Brown has been named team MVP, an award he won back in 2011, as he became the first NFL player in history to have more than 1,000 yards receiving and kick returning in the same year. A ... Read More
8-8 Record, Playoffs On Line Against Struggling Browns
After Week 5 of this 2013 NFL season, the Cleveland Browns had won their third straight and, at 3-2, had a three-game advantage in the win column over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers, 0-4 and coming off a bye week at that point, were at rock bottom and the Browns were optimistic about evacuating the basement of the AFC North. Well, it's Week 17 and...the tables have turned on lowly Cleveland (4-11) while Pittsburgh (7-8) remains alive for the sixth and final opening in the AFC playoff ... Read More
Steelers could cause havoc in postseason
It's not how you start, it's how you finish. After starting the season 0-4, Ben Roethlisberger was quoted as saying the Pittsburgh Steelers were the worst football team in the NFL. Since that time, the Steelers have gone 7-4, which easily could have been 9-2 (Dolphins and Ravens). Without looking too much into the past, the Steelers stand at 7-8 and are still mathematically in the playoff race. Pittsburgh has been improving week to week with Roethlisberger, Le'Veon Bell, Antonio Brown, Jason ... Read More
