A maddeningly inconsistent and underperforming Pittsburgh Steelers squad displayed another Jekyll and Hyde effort for a soaked Heinz Field crowd on Sunday, resulting positively in a thrilling 37-27 victory over the visiting Detroit Lions. For three quarters, Pittsburgh (4-6) dominated in many ways, but a miserable second quarter netted 27 points and a 27-20 halftime lead for Detroit (6-4). In the first quarter, QB Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers stormed to a 14-0 lead thanks to 34 and ... Read More
Steelers hope to continue momentum against Lions
An opportunity to make some midseason noise in a tightening AFC North race lingers for the Pittsburgh Steelers (3-6) as the NFC North division-leading Detroit Lions (6-3) come to Heinz Field for the first time since 2006. The Steelers will try to win their third straight home game after starting the home schedule winless through two. They also will attempt to win a second straight overall after defeating Buffalo last Sunday, which ended a two-game losing skid. Detroit has won twice in a row ... Read More
Ranking the 5 Worst Steelers seasons of the past 20 years
Despite their win Sunday afternoon against the Buffalo Bills last Sunday, the 2013 season has been one of the most disappointing seasons in recent memory for the Pittsburgh Steelers. But for a team that prides themselves on wins, you have to wonder is this as low as it gets for the black-and-gold. If the trend continues, the 2013 team will mark only the sixth Steelers team in the past 20 years not to finish above .500. But while this current team is certainly one of the Steelers worst in ... AFC North Race Far From Over
It seems as though every year that the Pittsburgh Steelers contend for a division crown or at least a Wild Card berth, they were considered a frontrunner from the beginning. The question is not usually whether or not they will make the playoffs, but how far they will go. In 2013, however, an 0-4 and 2-6 start all but completely erased any thought of sniffing the playoffs, barring the optimistic possibility of a Steel City miracle. Now at 3-6 after a home win vs. Buffalo, the Steelers enter ... Read More

Steelers fans aren’t ready for life without No. 7
First off, allow me to ensure that all readers understand that this is an editorial piece. My views may not be the same as other staff members here at “The Yinzer” – as a matter of fact, I’m pretty sure my views are much different. Secondly, this entire subject may be a moot issue. Originally reported by NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, a rumor that Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is unhappy in Pittsburgh and may demand a trade in the offseason broke this weekend. The rumor was so strong ... Read More
Why is trading Roethlisberger out of the question?
Before Sunday's game against Buffalo, Ian Rapoport reported that, according to team sources, Ben Roethlisberger was discontent with the offense and may seek a trade in the offseason. While the authenticity of Rapoport's sources has been widely questioned, most of Pittsburgh -fans and media alike- have tried to immediately quash any thoughts that the two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback would be dealt in the offseason. But if you're the Pittsburgh Steelers, cap strapped and stuck in last ... Read More
Steelers Week 10 Report card
After perhaps their most embarrassing effort in franchise history just one week ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers responded with one of their better efforts of the 2013 season on both sides of the ball Sunday in a 23-10 victory over the Buffalo Bills. While they were facing a rookie quarterback in E.J. Manuel who looked rusty and didn't present much of a challenge, a win is a win for a team desperate for them at this point in the season. For a change, there were a lot of good things to breakdown ... Read More
Angry defense seals 23-10 win
Seven days after allowing team records of 55 points and 610 yards at New England, the Pittsburgh Steelers (3-6) defeated the visiting Buffalo Bills (3-7) at Heinz Field Sunday afternoon. After much criticism of effort, age, ability, and Hall of Fame defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau, the defense held rookie E.J. Manuel to 155 yards passing and the Bills offense to a total of 227 yards in the 23-10 victory. Buffalo's only touchdown came with five seconds remaining on a 15-play, 80-yard drive to ... Read More
REPORT: Roethlisberger likely to ask for trade in offseason
Ian Rapaport, of NFL.com, reported Sunday morning that Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is "incredibly frustrated" with the current landscape of the organization and the locker room, and would like to be traded in the offseason. Rapaport also notes that the team fielded offers before this season and may explore again. Roethlisberger has had notable issues with offensive coordinator Todd Haley and is struggling to find rhythm and success in an offense that has a depleted offensive ... Read More
