The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced the release of LeGarrette Blount. Blount has been placed on waivers after last night's highly publicized walking off the field against the Tennessee Titans due his unhappiness with playing time of late. With Blount placed on waivers, he is now free to sign with any team that claims him. Meanwhile, the Steelers have serious questions now at running back, with only Dri Archer and practice squad player Josh Harris available in house to back up starter ... Read More
Pittsburgh Steelers Report Card after Monday night win vs. Titans
It wasn’t pretty, but the Pittsburgh Steelers used a second-half rally to move into sole possession of second place in the AFC North with a 27-24 win over a bad Tennessee Titans team Monday night in Nashville. There was a lot not to like about the performance, but there was also a lot of good that came from the win. With that being said, let’s take a look at how the Steelers graded out in my weekly Pittsburgh Steelers Report Card. Quarterback: It wasn’t Ben Roethlisberger’s best game as ... Read More
Report: Blount left Steelers victory early
Steelers’ running back LeGarrette Blount left the team’s Monday night game early. He was apparently upset over a lack of carries in the team’s 27-24 victory over the Tennessee Titans. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Ed Bouchette reported. According to the Post-Gazette, Blount left the field early, went to the locker room, changed, and headed for the team bus. Blount was upset that he did not have any carries while fellow running back Le’Veon Bell was racking up 204 yards on 33 carries. It was ... Read More
Steelers come from behind to beat Titans
Late in the game, on the road, losing to yet another inferior team, Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley turned the keys to his offense over to second-year running Le’Veon Bell. Bell responded by rambling to a career-high 204 yards on 33 carries, the fourth-highest total ever for a Steelers running back, and he lead the team to a come-from-behind 27-25 victory over the Tennessee Titans. On the first play of the fourth quarter, Bell stretched his left arm out to just barely break the ... Read More
Titans host Steelers in Monday Night clash
Beware, Pittsburgh Steelers (6-4), for a struggling, identity-starved NFL team is next on the schedule. The Tennessee Titans (2-7), among the worst in the league, host the Steelers on Monday Night Football in Week 11, striving to be the next team to knock off a team that has looked mostly elite against quality competition, but lost against bottom-feeders. With half of its four losses coming to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New York Jets, Pittsburgh will need to bounce back in this favorable ... Read More
Steelers sign DL Ethan Hemer to practice squad
The Pittsburgh Steelers lost a member of their practice squad on Thursday when the Arizona Cardinals plucked defensive end Josh Mauro away from the black and gold. Many were pretty high on Mauro, but his signing left a spot on the practice squad and it was filled by a familiar name. The Steelers announced on Friday that they have signed defensive lineman Ethan Hemer to replace Mauro. Hemer was on the Steelers practice squad just a few weeks ago, but was released when the team signed ... Read More
An uphill climb ahead for the unpredictable, inconsistent Steelers
What a difference a week can make. After an impressive win against the Baltimore Ravens extended the Steelers winning streak to three, and placed them control of their destiny in the tough AFC North, the Steelers did what they seem to do way too often. They played down to inferior competition. That's exactly what happened in what can only be categorized as an incredibly disappointing 20-13 loss to the 1-8 New York Jets this past Sunday. Couple this performance with the inexplicable home ... Read More
Have the Steelers lost their identity?
Nothing irritates a sports fan more than watching their team perform inconsistently. Playing well one week and being miserably unrecognizable the next week is maddening. The Steelers loss to the New York Jets in week 10 after dominating the Indianapolis Colts and Baltimore Ravens in previous weeks has left fans befuddled and downright angry. A week ago, Steelers fans were at the top of the world after the team had crushed their greatest rival and clawed their way back to the top of the ... Read More
Mistakes, misfortune doom Steelers
A red-hot Pittsburgh Steelers (6-4) team marched into MetLife Stadium on Sunday for a Week 10 date with the miserable, bumbling New York Jets (2-8), only to leave empty-handed and wondering what happened in a 20-13 loss. New York had forced just three turnovers all season but took it away from Pittsburgh four times in an error-prone contest that the Jets dominated from the beginning. Michael Vick led the Jets on a nearly eight-minute drive that resulted in a short field goal by Nick Folk to ... Read More
Steelers aim for fourth straight at Jets
A season has undoubtedly turned around in the past three weeks, as the Pittsburgh Steelers (6-3) won three straight games rather convincingly, all at Heinz Field. Now, to continue the winning streak and to keep pace in the crowded AFC North division, the Steelers visit the struggling New York Jets (1-8) on Sunday afternoon. The Jets, led by head coach Rex Ryan, have lost eight games in a row. The only win for the last place team in the AFC East came in Week 1 against the Oakland Raiders, who ... Read More
