Pens acquire Hagelin for Perron in a swap of underachieving forwards
Two underperforming teams swapped underperforming wingers late last night as the Pittsburgh Penguins shipped forward David Perron and blueliner Adam Clendening to the Anaheim Ducks for left winger Carl Hagelin. The Penguins acquired Perron, 27, last season from the Edmonton Oilers for depth forward Rob Klinkhammer and the 16th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft. Penguins lose second straight overtime game
In their road trip finale, the Pittsburgh Penguins (20-16-6) visited the Tampa Bay Lightening (22-17-4) Friday evening with early playoff implications on the line. Pittsburgh’s defense looked shaky at best, in giving up two short-handed goals that made Tampa Bay look like a top tier team. The Penguins battled back and even took a brief lead, but gave up a late goal to go into overtime for the second game in a row and Pittsburgh dropped a critical game 5-4 to the Lightening. The Penguins found ... Read More
Murray solidifies Penguins’ goaltending future
Pittsburgh saw a small sampling of what the Penguins’ goaltending future may look like in the absence of Marc-Andre Fleury a few short weeks ago. Matt Murray was called up from the AHL following Fleury’s concussion, and finished his short stint going 2-1-1 with a 1.72 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage. To the sadness of some, Murray was re-assigned back to the AHL after the Penguins activated Fleury from the injury list. But at this point in time, it is much more beneficial for ... Read More

The Penguins were unable to complete the comeback as an Evgeni Malkin hooking penalty in overtime left his team disadvantaged and the Hurricanes took advantage winning in overtime, 3-2. So Close, Yet So Far In the recent weeks ... Read More
Sidney Crosby should be an All-Star
It is no secret around Pittsburgh that Sidney Crosby has fallen on some hard times this season, especially after being snubbed from this year’s NHL All-Star roster. If the All-Star game’s new format did not require each team to be represented, there is a very real possibility Crosby would be on the roster, as he should be. Statistically, Crosby has underwhelmed this season. There is no getting around that. Both Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang deserved their selections, but do names like Brandon ... Read More
Should Crosby be an All-Star?
Despite being fan favorite, and possibly the face of the NHL, Penguins captain Sidney Crosby was not chosen to play in the 2016 All-Star Game. Having played 39 games so far this season, Crosby currently has 31 points, falling behind Evgeni Malkin who is leading the team with 38 overall points. Playing in the 2007 All-Star Game, Crosby ended the game with zero points. Playing alongside Alex Ovechkin, the young duo only scored one goal between the two of them. Despite being invited to the ... Read More
Column: Is the clock ticking for Crosby and Malkin?
It is no secret the Pittsburgh Penguins have underwhelmed since hoisting the Stanley Cup in 2009. Fast forward almost eight years later since their last Championship and a decade since the Crosby-Malkin era began, that 2009 season has still been the only championship credit to their careers. It is easy to point fingers, assign blame, and act like fixing these issues are easy, they aren’t. Yes, Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin have not played to our expectations in recent years, but does this ... Read More
Penguins drop second game in a row to Blackhawks
This evening the Pittsburgh Penguins (19-15-5) travelled to Chicago to take on the Blackhawks (24-13-4) in game two of a two game home-and-home series. Artemi Panarin continued to give the Penguins trouble as he scored two goals for the second straight game. Panarin’s winning goal would come off of a faceoff in the third period that slid right through Brian Dumoulin’s legs, and found Fleury’s top shelf. Evgeni Malkin scored his 19th goal of the season during a power play in the middle of the ... Read More
