After every game during the regular season I offered my report card, grading the Steelers performance position-by-position across the field. Now that the season is over for the Steelers, after a disappointing 8-8 finish, it's time to recap things and hand out final grades for the regular season. With that being said, it is time to take a look at the final grades for the 2012 season for every position on the field. Quarterbacks: It wasn't exactly a great season for the Steelers' offense, ... Expecting a better Steelers season? Maybe next year
It's safe to assume most, if not all, Steelers fans are happy to see 2012 come to a close. In a span of 12 months the Steelers lost to Tim Tebow in the wild card round of the playoffs, then went 8-8 missing the playoffs altogether the following season. Unfortunately, 2013 doesn't look promising either. For starters, the offense is going to take a step back. Mike Wallace, despite is inconsistencies, is a deep threat because of his speed. The Steelers will certainly miss that aspect, ... Read More
Pittsburgh’s New Years’ Resolutions
]As the sun sets on 2012, many people look back on the year that was and develop new ways to better themselves. It’s an honorable exercise. It takes a tremendous amount of self-awareness to objectively analyze things you wish to be doing differently. For the big three Pittsburgh sports teams, 2012 was a year mired in disappointment and heartache. The Steelers finished with a whimper, losing five of their last seven games to finish at 8-8, on the outside of the playoffs looking in. The ... Read More
Endless Possibilities: Draft Day Decisions for the Steelers
After beating the Browns on Sunday, the Steelers have settled into the 17th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. The Steelers are facing some tough decisions this off-season. With salary cap problems looming, they’re faced with possibly letting their number one receiver and running back go. Mike Wallace is likely to test the waters of free agency, along with Rashard Mendenhall. It seems unlikely that either will be back with the team next season. The team will look to ... Read More
Pittsburgh Steelers’ Week 17 Report Card
The Pittsburgh Steelers got to 8-8 on the season by winning a meaningless season finale against the Cleveland Browns. The 24-10 victory came with backups and in most cases third-and-fourth stringers littering the field for both teams. But a win is a win, which leads me to my final Steelers report card of a disappointing 2012 season. Quarterback: Ben Roethlisberger was without his top two receivers in Heath Miller and Mike Wallace, but the Browns were without three starters in the ... Read More
Steelers season comes to end after win over Browns
The Steelers snapped a three game losing streak and ended one of the more frustrating seasons in recent memory on high note Sunday, defeating the Cleveland Brown 24-10 at Heinz Field. The victory gives the Steelers a final record of 8-8, avoiding their first losing season since 2003 and the first in the Mike Tomlin era. Cleveland, playing without their top two quarterbacks and starting running back Trent Richardson, outplayed the Steelers throughout much of the first half, but couldn’t ... Read More
The new kids in town
Rookie quarterbacks are taking this NFL season by storm. Two rookie quarterbacks have locked up ten win seasons and a playoff spot. Another is celebrating a Pro Bowl bid and aiming for a division title. Either way you look at it, Robert Griffin III, Russell Wilson, and Andrew Luck are turning heads. Robert Griffin III, known as RG3, is leading the 4th best scoring offense in the NFL with 20 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. He is 2nd in the NFL with a passer rating of 104.1, only behind Aaron ... Steelers 2013 draft preview
With the 2012 season coming to an end for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the playoffs being out of sight; the Steelers have to be thinking about their future. The next important day for the Steelers will be the draft in April. They will have plenty of time to evaluate and figure out who they want to target. There are not many glaring needs on the team; it is more of a revamping and taking someone to replace a player a few years down the road. The Steelers are set to have a top 20 pick so there ... Heath Miller finally gets his due
Steelers tight end Heath Miller earned his second trip to the Pro Bowl Tuesday, along with being named Team MVP by his teammates on Wednesday. The awards are a silver lining to a tumultuous week that saw Miller have surgery to repair a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee. It was also a week in which Miller finally got the recognition he deserves. It’s hard not to like a player of Miller’s caliber, the Steelers’ under the radar yet always dependable tight end. Ever since he came to ... Read More
Where Do the Steelers Go From Here?
One year after an overtime loss to Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos in the AFC Wild Card Game, the Pittsburgh Steelers now find themselves on the outside looking in. This will be the first season under Mike Tomlin that the Steelers have had less than nine wins. With a win on Sunday against the Browns, they will finish 8-8. The question that Steeler Nation is now asking is: What now? One of the biggest issues for the Steelers all season has been health. The Steelers have seen most of their ... Read More
