After a great performance Sunday night against the Carolina Panthers, in which he rushed for 147 yards in a Pittsburgh Steelers victory, running back Le'Veon Bell started opening up some eyes nationally in the process. Three weeks into the 2014 season, Bell leads all NFL players with 461 yards from scrimmage and what made his Week 3 performance even better, was the fact that he had a big night against what could be one of the NFL's best front sevens. Through three games, he has 315 yards ... Read More
Be consistent when judging athletes
Let me start out by saying this. My views on this are exactly that. They don’t in any way represent Pittsburgh Sporting News as a whole. That being said, if you support James Harrison’s return to the Steelers but were bashing Ray Rice a few weeks ago, you’re inconsistent, and you’re a hypocrite. It’s really as simple as that. How quick we forget what Harrison did to his girlfriend at the time, Beth Tibbot. Yes, the case was dropped and Harrison had to undergo anger management, but ... Read More
Can James Harrison make an impact for Steelers?
Last night we were given the news per Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that the Pittsburgh Steelers and James Harrison would reunite one more time. This of course, came after rumors swirled after an Instagram video showed Harrison asking his children if it might be ok to come back and "play one more year." Just mere days after Harrison officially retired a Steeler, he's back. Harrison will rejoin the team today, and immediately begin preparations for Sunday's game at home versus the ... Read More
Steelers Expected to Sign James Harrison
After suffering a number of significant injuries on the defense in Sunday night's victory at Carolina, the Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to sign former All-Pro and 2008 NFL Defensive Player of the Year James Harrison. Harrison, 36, was signed by the Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2002 and he played ten seasons there from 2004 to 2013 before being released. He then spent one season on the Cincinnati Bengals before retiring. Now that second-year linebacker Jarvis Jones and rookie Ryan ... Read More
Report Card: Grading Steelers Week 3 win at Carolina
The Pittsburgh Steelers headed to Carolina last night with an array of question marks and concerns. After a disappointing loss to the Baltimore Ravens on prime time last Thursday, the Steelers traveled south to trying to right the ship and get a much needed road win. The Steelers accomplished that mission, and bettered their record to 2-1 compliments of a 37-19 victory in Charlotte. Lets take a look at the Steelers grades after the impressive bounce back effort. Quarterback: Facing the ... Read More
Steelers Storm Into Charlotte, Roll Over Panthers in Primetime
Consider for a moment everything that you thought you knew about the Pittsburgh Steelers (2-1) and the Carolina Panthers (2-1) prior to Sunday night's game in Charlotte and promptly throw it all out the window. In a 37-19 victory for the visiting Steelers, very little went as many expected, which is quite alright for the fans of the black and gold. Pittsburgh dominated in nearly all facets, taking advantage of a weakened Panthers offense, rare turnovers and miscues, and a powerful rushing ... Read More

Steelers Attempt Rebound in Primetime Matchup at Carolina
With ten days to brush off a lifeless defeat at the hands of the division-rival Baltimore Ravens, the Pittsburgh Steelers (1-1) visit Charlotte's Bank of America Stadium and the Carolina Panthers (2-0) on primetime Sunday Night Football. Pittsburgh lost by a 26-6 score at Baltimore in Week Two in the league's weekly Thursday night game, failing to truly compete with the hosts in an important early-season divisional matchup. The team's focus now turns to the undefeated Panthers and mobile ... Read More
Containing Cam Newton key to Steeler victory
Few quarterbacks bring a greater combination of size, speed and throwing ability than the Carolina Panthers Cam Newton. At 6'5 and 240 pounds, Newton has the ability to shake off pass rushers and would be tacklers with his sheer size and uncanny strength. Add Newton's speed, where he's been clocked in the 4.5 range in the 40-yard dash, and you have quarterback the size of a linebacker, who runs like a safety. Let's not forget Newton's arm either. He's certainly got a cannon, and when you ... Read More
Don’t count out the Steelers just yet
Pittsburgh is known for its extensive network of bridges. With the reaction of many fans to the Steelers performance early this season, one might gather that a number of them are ready to jump off the nearest one they can find. After last Thursday's 26-6 loss to their bitter rival, the Baltimore Ravens, I suppose it's understandable. Let me try and calm you down if I may, and talk you down off the ledge. As fans, it's easy to react in the moment, we become prisoners of recency. Just ... Read More
