Per TSN hockey analyst, Darren Dreger on Twitter:
“Sources say the Pens and Stars have a trade in place for Brenden Morrow. However, he has yet to waive NTC [no trade clause].”
Brenden Morrow is a 34 year old left winger with six goals and five assists this season. Morrow has spent all thirteen NHL seasons with the Dallas Stars, compiling 528 total points.
The Penguins have been rumored to have interest in both Brenden Morrow and Jarome Iginla to upgrade their top six forwards. While Iginla has built a hall of fame career based on his scoring prowess, Morrow still adds a veteran presence with grit in a similar fashion to Bill Guerin’s role in 2009.
Dreger followed up with another tweet stating that Joe Morrow may be in the deal. Joe Morrow (no relation to Brenden) was selected in the first round of the 2011 draft. He was seen as a strong puck moving defenseman with a cannon of a shot from the point.
