The Pittsburgh Steelers will look to continue their winning streak on Sunday vs. the Kansas City Chiefs at Heinz Field, but will likely have to do so without a couple bodies in their secondary.
Both safety Troy Polamalu and cornerback Ike Taylor are listed as doubtful for Sunday’s tilt.
Polamalu (knee) didn’t practice at all this week and looks like he will be out of action. If that is indeed the case, veteran Will Allen will likely draw the starting nod opposite Mike Mitchell. There’s also a chance we could see more of Shamarko Thomas and Ross Ventrone as well. Polamalu missed two games earlier this year because of knee problems.
As for Taylor (forearm), it looks as if he will be out of action as well. That’s nothing new for the Steelers as they have had to go without Taylor for most of the season. Brice McCain and Antwon Blake will continue to assume their roles in the secondary.
With Polamalu and Taylor out of action it means the Steelers will be without three of their starting four defensive backs who started the season as Cortez Allen is already on IR.
In other injury related news, tight end Matt Spaeth (elbow) is listed as questionable and a whole slew of players, including James Harrison (knee), who is expected to return to the lineup on Sunday, have been listed as probable.
