Throughout the past few seasons, the Pitt Panthers have produced some quality wide receivers.
Yet none of them have done what Tyler Boyd has done in a Pitt uniform.
Boyd has been a special player since he set put a Pitt jersey on just a little over two years ago.
Saturday against Georgia Tech, Boyd became the most prolific pass catcher in Panther’s history.
In the third quarter, Boyd hauled in a pass from quarterback Nate Peterman, which gave Boyd his seventh reception of the game and more importantly the 203rd catch of his Pitt career.
That moved Boyd past Street to become the Panthers all-time leading receiver in Pitt program history.
The most impressive part of the feat is that Boyd accomplished it in just a little over two seasons.
The junior All-America and ACC Offensive Player of the Year candidate, Boyd came into Saturday leading the ACC in receptions (8.25 avg.) and is second in receiving yards (82.0 avg.). Boyd is also the nation’s active career leader with 6.53 catches per contest.
During his first two seasons at Pitt, Boyd became the first receiver in ACC history to post 1,000 yard seasons in each of his first two seasons.
Through three quarters against the Yellow Jackets, Boyd has seven receptions for 63 yards and two touchdowns.
With the game entering the fourth quarter tied at 28, Boyd might have to deliver a little more for the Panthers to leave Atlanta with a win.
