Pitt Panthers football coach Pat Narduzzi landed his second recruit for the Class of 2016 this week when he was able to get a verbal commitment from a local product.
Upper St. Clair offensive lineman Brandon Ford is the latest Pitt commit. Ford’s announcement came just days after Narduzzi landed Ohio defensive back Tony Butler.
Ford is listed as a two-star prospect by Rivals and 24/7. Rivals lists Ford as the 27th best prospect in the state.
He is listed at 6’6″ and 300 pounds and is viewed as a good prospect that will fit Narduzzi’s system.
Ford chose the Panthers over offers from Maryland and a few MAC schools.
Many feel the lack of bigger offers for Ford was due to the fact that he had mono last season and was never really 100 percent. Narduzzi getting a commitment from Ford now is big as if he has a big senior season, as many expect, there could have been stiffer competition for his services.
Like many others, it looks as if Ford has bought into what Narduzzi is selling at Pitt.
“I am very excited for what the program has in store for it because of the new energy and atmosphere that him and his staff have brought. I believe that Pitt will be great again in the near future. Also I don’t think that there is a better school for me in the country, both athletically, academically and location wise.”
Here’s a look at some highlights from Ford’s junior season.
