The Washington Wild Things have been slumping lately, but tonight’s lineup sang a different tune. Every player that stepped to the plate for the Wild Things registered at least one hit as the Wild Things poured on an onslaught of offense and picked up a 5-1 win as a result.
The Wild Things played smart all game and it showed right from the beginning. In the bottom of the first, three straight sacrifice flies resulted in the first run of the game. The last belonged to CJ Beatty and scored Shain Stoner. Stoner doubled to lead off the inning.
The Florence Freedom would tie the game up in the fifth inning with a solo shot from Nick Stein, his first career long ball.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Wild Things would lock the game up after scoring three runs. Both Quincy Latimore and Mark Samuelson drove in runs, again on sacrifice flies. A Jovan Rosa double followed by a Stewart Ijames triple would plate the third run of the inning, putting the Things up 4-1.
They would never trail again.
Rosa added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning, his sixth of the season.
Dayne Quist pitched 7.0 strong innings for the Wild Things and picked up the win. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits.
Tim Williams, AJ Nunziato, Beatty, Rosa, and Ijames all registered two hits for Washington.
The two teams will take the field tomorrow night at 7:05 pm ET from CONSOLE Energy Park.
