The Pittsburgh Pirates have taken over the town of Pittsburgh now that the Penguins have been eliminated from the NHL playoffs. The Buccos won four of their six games this week, including two big wins against the defending World Series Champions. Everyone knows that there’s one man on this roster who can step up and be labeled as a superstar, and, this week, he can add Yinzer of the Week to his repertoire.
Andrew McCutchen has been heating up as of late, trying to overcome his slow start.
The All-Star center fielder registered multiple hits in every game but one this past week. In the final two games against the Chicago Cubs, McCutchen went 3-6 with a double. In the big series against the San Francisco Giants, Cutch went 6-12 with three doubles and three RBI’s. His biggest game came in the second game of the series when he went 3-5 with 3 RBI’s en route to an 8-2 victory. To finish off the week he went 2-4 with a double and two RBI’s. The Pirates won 3-0.
For the week, McCutchen hit .500 with five doubles and five RBI’s. He had 11 hits, three walks, and four strikeouts. He also had a stolen base and was caught stealing once. Cutch also finished the week with a .577 OBP and a .727 SLG.
