It was only a matter of time until Big Ben won the Yinzer of the Week Award. Roethlisberger, as has been the norm, has quietly been of of the top quarterbacks in the league again this season. Roethlisberger has a 101.4 quarterback rating with 14 touchdowns to only three interceptions while throwing for 1,987 yards in the air. With a banged up offensive line and running game, Roethlisberger deserves to be in the MVP discussion.
This past week against RG3 and the Redskins, Roethlisberger was able to carve of the ‘Skins secondary for 222 yards on 24-33 passing which was good for a 121 passer rating. With his completions, Roethlisberger was able to find the endzone three times. The prettiest of the three was the strike to Heath Miller where Ben was doing what he does best in stepping up in the pocket away from the defensive pressure to find a streaking Miller in the back of the endzone. His other two went to the unlikely duo of Will Johnson and Leonard Pope.
With Roethlisberger leading the charge, the Steelers were able to push their record to 4-3, and put themselves just one game behind the 5-2 division leading Baltimore Ravens. With a showdown of the two top quarterbacks in the 2004 draft this weekend in the Meadowlands, Roethlisberger will look to continue his stellar performance with a win over Eli Manning and the New York Giants. With another great performance, who knows, Roethlisberger may just win the award in consecutive weeks.
