The Pirates will place RHP Gerrit Cole on the 15-day DL due to a “tight right lat” as reported by Bill Brink of the PG.

Brandon Cumpton is expected to make the start in Cole’s place on Wednesday in St. Louis.
Cole was cruising through his start on Friday before the injury removed him from the game after five innings and 80 pitches. If all goes well, Cole should only miss one start prior and after the All-Star break.
