Houston, we have a problem. That problem is simply that the New England Patriots beat the Pittsburgh Steelers to once again to head to yet another Super Bowl. The Steelers, in reality, didn’t do much to halt the Patriots' passage to Houston, where Super Bowl LI will be held. For New England, it seemed like another walk around Boston Park. Plenty of Steelers fans made the trip to sit in the trenches of Gillette Stadium and cheer on the Black and Gold. However, those fans had to ... Read More
NC State narrowly defeats Pitt men’s basketball, 79-74
From the first touch on tip-off to the final buzzer, it was a close game on Tuesday night between the Pitt Panthers and the North Carolina State Wolfpack. However, the Wolfpack managed to earn the win at their home arena, 79-74. At the end of the first half, the Wolfpack led by one point, 35-34. And NC State managed to stretch that lead all the way until the end. After a dismal game against the University of Miami four days ago, against the Wolfpack, Pitt senior forward Michael Young ... Kevin Kerr, Corey Hertzog talk Riverhounds preseason, new players
Believe it or not, this isn’t the first season that Pittsburgh Riverhounds midfielder Kevin Kerr has gone through a roster revamp. This year, the Riverhounds have truly cleaned the house, bringing back only nine players, meaning 14 players are brand new. It's a similar case to last season, when only eight players returned. This season, plenty of the new players are just coming out of college. The advice given to these new players from veterans Kerr and forward Corey ... Read More
Grades: Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Kansas City Chiefs
In the most untraditional fashion, the Pittsburgh Steelers are heading to the 2017 AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots. That might not sound non-traditional. The Steelers are six-time Super Bowl champions, so they've obviously seen their share of AFC Championship games. However, what was non-tradiational was the way Pittsburgh earned its win in the AFC Divisional Round against the Kansas City Chiefs. Give Chris Boswell the hero’s cape. He scored every point for the ... Read More
Rogers, Hamilton and Ayers could be key to victory over Chiefs
The Pittsburgh Steelers thought they were in a deep hole when last year's No. 2 wide receiver Martavis Bryant was suspended for the season due to marijuana use. Add in Markus Wheaton’s season-ending shoulder injury, and the Steelers looked like they were in serious trouble at the receiver position. That is, until Eli Rogers, Cobi Hamilton and Demarcus Ayers made themselves known. Ayers is the youngest of the three (he's 22) and is in his first NFL season as a seventh-round pick out of ... Panthers blown out by Miami, 72-46, for Pitt’s third-straight loss
Just one game after Jamel Artis put up a career-high 43-points against Louisville, Artis led the team again in points on Saturday — he just didn't have nearly as many. Artis only put up 15 points in the Pitt Panthers’ blowout 72-46 loss to the University of Miami Hurricanes. Pitt senior forward Michael Young didn’t know if he would be able to play because he has been dealing with an injury to his right eye. However, he wore a mask to protect his eye and led the team in assists (3). The ... Read More

Okai signed with the club in 2015, and 2017 will be his third season in a Riverhound jersey. In his two seasons in Pittsburgh, Okai made 46 appearances, scoring one goal (against the Wilmington Hammerheads in July 2016) and providing four assists. “Stephen is a very accomplished, very skillful, very strong player that we knew we wanted back ... Mark the Pitt Panthers men’s basketball team down for two losses in a row. After a loss to Syracuse on Saturday, the Panthers (12-5) lost another away game on Wednesday to the No. 14 Louisville Cardinals, a close 85-80 contest. Senior forward Jamel Artis scored 43 points, a career-high. After the game, Louisville head coach Rick Pitino called Artis a “terrific basketball player.” Even Artis’ head coach, Kevin Stallings, raved about him despite the loss. “Well, he's good, that's one thing,” ... Adewole just completed his collegiate soccer career with George Washington University in Washington, D.C. At George Washington University, Adewole made 64 appearances — starting 61 matches — where he notched five goals and five assists in three seasons. This year, the Colonials ... Read More
