Reports indicated early Sunday morning that rookie nose tackle Alameda Ta’Amu was arrested for drunk driving.
The fourth round pick out of Washington will be facing charges after crashing into four cars and nearly running over three cops in his Navigator. Four police officers supposedly had their guns drawn at Te’amu but did not shoot due to the business of South Side at the time of the incident. After the fourth car he hit, he got out of his car and tried to flee, but would eventually be taken down by the police who handcuffed him and arrested him.
Te’amu will be looking at tons of charges including felony counts of fleeing police, aggravated assault while drunk, and three counts of aggravated assault. He will also be looking at ten counts of misdemeanor charges, which include, resisting arrest, attempting escape, drunken driving, and failure to obey traffic laws.
There is no official word from the Steelers yet on how they will handle the situation, but you would have to think the days of Alameda Ta’amu being known as a Pittsburgh Steeler might be in huge jeopardy. We have seen in past players get cut the instant they get in trouble off the field and I don’t think the rookie who had a .196 blood alcohol limit will be any exception.
