Surprisingly the Steelers have a shot at the Division title after everything that has gone on this season. They are still two games back with four to play, but beating Baltimore last Sunday gives them an outside chance to win the Division. They have to do their party by winning the rest of the games they have left on their schedule, and Baltimore has to lose three of their last four. Out of the two teams, the Steelers definitely have the easier finish to their regular season. Three out of ... Read More
Steelers – Ravens round 2
Just two weeks ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers took on their arch rivals the Baltimore Ravens at Heinz Field losing 13-10. That was their first game without starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger after spraining his shoulder and dislocating his rib against the Kansas City Chiefs. Similar to their last matchup, Roethlisberger will be on the sidelines and Charlie Batch will be under center. The Steelers are 0-6 against the Ravens without Roethlisberger. After losing to the Cleveland Browns last ... Read More
Could injuries actually be a good thing?
Every year players get injured. It's going to happen, it just depends who and how bad of an injury. But is it possible that injured players could possibly be a good thing for a team? The Steelers have been decimated by injuries this year. That is not my opinion, it is a fact. No team is 100 percent healthy, and that is completely understandable. But, I don't believe there is another team out there that has any more key injuries than the Steelers. The biggest and most obvious key injury has ... Read More
A Steelers hangover
For about three weeks now, the city of Pittsburgh has been feeling the excruciating side effects from a Steelers hangover. The common remedy for any Steelers hangover is catching the ball when thrown to you (ahem Mike Wallace), holding onto the ball (cough-cough Rashard Mendenhall), and throwing the football accurately (gag CharlieBatch). Please don’t hold your breath Steelers fans, for this quick hangover cure is nowhere in sight. Sunday’s performance against the Cleveland Browns was ... Read More
How is Steelers defense ranked No. 1 at midway point?
Another half of the season is done in the NFL, and the Pittsburgh Steelers defense is ranked No. 1 through those eight games. Watching those games, an outside fan might be impressed, but Steelers fans might ask how? We as Steelers fans are spoiled in a way, and our impressions of the team may be a little different, than let’s say a Jaguars fan assuming there are any. Watching these first few games, the defense to us looked weak and in slow motion. James Harrison coming off an injury hasn’t ... Read More
Running back to the polls
Election day in America. A day in which Americans (well, 50-60 percent of us) wake up 10 minutes early, drive about four minutes out of their way, and spend six minutes deciding the fate of the free world. It’s a beautiful, symbiotic act that is a true privilege of living in a democracy. Pennsylvania is a swing state, one in which the candidates have fought tooth and nail for, attempting to sway the voters based on our issues of greatest concern. But one “hot-button” issue that the candidates ... Read More
Deem’s Week 7 key NFL matchups
Baltimore at Houston -- The Ravens have had a very tough week as they lost one of the top corner backs in the league Ladarius Webb and team leader Ray Lewis for the season to injuries in a hard fought win over the Cowboys last week. It was a game where the vaunted Ravens' defense was shredded by the Cowboys run game a sight we are not used to seeing. So everyone is wondering if this defense who keeps losing players can hold up well enough for them to make another playoff run. The Texans are ... Read More
Steelers rookie Alameda Ta’amu arrested
Reports indicated early Sunday morning that rookie nose tackle Alameda Ta'Amu was arrested for drunk driving. The fourth round pick out of Washington will be facing charges after crashing into four cars and nearly running over three cops in his Navigator. Four police officers supposedly had their guns drawn at Te'amu but did not shoot due to the business of South Side at the time of the incident. After the fourth car he hit, he got out of his car and tried to flee, but would eventually be ... Read More
Steelers drop to 2-3 after shocking loss to Titans
The Steelers fell on another last second field goal tonight, this one coming on the leg of Rob Bironas. On a game the Steelers were favored and picked to win by almost everybody, they once again played down to their competition and were unable to come away with a victory. The Titans were able to strike first as they had their opening drive result in a Rob Bironas 22-yard field goal. The field goal wasn't as easy as it seems, as Bironas banked it off the post, but the ball was still able to ... Read More
Monday morning quarterback: Cardinals shock Patriots
Week 2 was a wild week in the NFL. The most surprising game was certainly the Arizona Cardinals upset over the New England Patriots. The Cardinals defense played great all game holding the high powered Patriots offense to only field goals until late in the fourth quarter. Kevin Kolb didn't play great, but it was just a grind it out victory. It was a victory that almost didn't happen when young running back Ryan Williams fumbled the ball with just over a minute left and gave the Patriots one last ... Read More
